Welcome to Blaenllain Stud
About Us
Blaenllain Stud was started by our parents Brian & the late
Peta
Jones. They mainly provided riding ponies for myself to ride &
compete. Mostly I did WHP and SJ and was fortunate enough to have the
support of my family and some very talented home produced
horses &
ponies to compete up to & inc International as an Individual
and in
Teams to represent Wales in both WHP & SJ. To name a
few, "STAR
SCHOLAR", 15hh WHP, "STAR GLEAM" lead rein, 1st ridden Cradle &
Nursery Steaks, "TOWY VALLEY ROOSTER" & "TOWY VALLEY HORACE"
13hh
WHP, BLAENLLAIN RED BERRY 14.2hh BSJA, BLAENLLAIN HUCKLE BERRY, Horse
Trials & BSJA, were a few of my top horses/ponies.
Generally they were all unbroken & with
attitude when mum spotted
that something special in them and through a lot of hard work and
commitment form everyone involved they got me up to National &
International Level. Our high points were competing & getting
very
well placed on our home produced bargains’ at Horse of the
Year
show @ Wembley, Home International in Mill Lodge in Showjumping,
International WHP in Germany & Home International WHP in
Nottingham.

While
mum was busy at the shows getting horses ready for the ring, Dad
was busy in the Working Hunter Pony ring building the course which he
continued to do this when I wasn’t competing at the shows.
Once I left school I went on to take my "BHS AI" as well as other
equine qualifications. I now on occasions teach & specialise
mostly
in jumping and also ring craft & producing for both in-hand
&
ridden showing.
On leaving school my sister “Tina” worked for some
top class pony studs
& ridden showing yards both in Wales & Ireland and
learnt the
art of platting and producing horses for the showring, she then went on
to join the Armed Services.
After some serious changes in our family circumstances Tina left
the forces and came home. Together with my partner Wayne, and Tina we
eventually moved to our present address and we now live in a very
peaceful area about 4 miles from the coast and are
surrounded by
beautiful views.

Tina
and I have very different expectations form a horse but
couldn’t
really afford one each. Tina enjoys in-hand showing &
social rides
etc and I enjoy competing under saddle & show jumping
etc.
Looking at things in the long term we decided to combine our thoughts
together and see if we could bred our ideal horse, with this in mind we
set about breeding what we breed today.
We started off with “BLAENLLAIN DOODLE BERRY”,
as she is registered Welsh Part Bred, Tina was able to show her in-hand
while I competed her under saddle and show jumping. Due to the Foot
& mouth, she was put in foal to a Arab and bred us our
“Ideal
horse” our stallion “BLAENLLAIN
DOODLEBA”.
He is registered Welsh Part Bred and Part Bred Arab, all his stock is
also eligible for registration. We now use him at stud on our own mares
and public.
Throughout all this we have been lucky enough to
have the continued support from our Grandmother
'Bobbie' Dad
'Brian', family friend 'Vernon', and my long
suffering partner Wayne
and not forgetting some great friends which allows us to continue
showing.
My partner Wayne concentrates more on our wonderful Labrador's, the
Affix for these is WILARKLODGE. When time allows
Wayne works them and
generally using FTCH / FTW on our bitches we breed the
occasional
litter, please see our sister web site www.wilarklodgekennels.co.uk
