13th January 2013, was our first outing of the season, We had a rather tense & unplanned start to a very cold day with the lorry deciding to be very unhelpful and wouldn't start! No matter how many sweet nothings Wayne whispered at it, it still wouldn't start!! We had a very non negotiable NO from our girl, who is usually very reliable and had been out the day before, but the cold had got to her battery's and she was not playing. After a rather frantic call to Yvonne to bring her 4WD and trailer and with Wayne convincing our Mitsubishi it was a good idea to start, Yvonne and I started the shuttle service of 5 horse's to Cel Aeron with our trailers. Luckily all these horses don't mind what they travel in, as long as the get to the party, they really enjoy going to competition and in our case the rather unpredictable life style that goes with it.
Bugsy was very happy to be reunited with her little rider Rhys, this was the first time together in a few weeks and it this was their first dressage together. They they did a lovely relaxed test which showed happiness and harmony together. A really good outcome especially considering Rhys only had 10 min to warm Bugs up due to our late arrival and not had the opportunity practice the test.
Caz and Bella, Caz has recently started to help out with stable duties and exercising Bella and as he has totally out grown his pony its made good sense to start competing Bella, I think its great experience for the horses and pony’s to be ridden by a variety of riders where possible and suitable and it is always done under supervision and guidance.
Caz and dressage are not generally 2 word's you would put together but with a bit of convincing he gave it a go and so this was Caz first attempt at dressage, and his first competition on Bella. With it been a rather chilly day, Bella wasn’t in the mood for hanging around and so although the test was a little rushed, all in all it was a good test and well tried and Caz did well to ride from memory on his first attempt.
Gwenan and Sweet-pea. Sweet-pea has only just been bought back into work since her unplanned holiday (due to my miss-hap). Like the others this was also the first outing doing dressage for this relatively new combination of horse & rider. She did a lovely test, behaving really well in the busy practice arena and during her test. Gwenan rode her to do a lovely relaxed test, earning herself a BD ticket. We were aiming to compete in BD but unfortunately the planned outing clashes with a jumping clinic, and although we were aiming to do both in the same day thinking one would be morning then travel the 30 miles to the other venue to do the jumping in the afternoon, but they are both in the afternoon, will have to think again!
We had a enjoyable day. We were doing it as a outing for experience for novice horse, trainee riders and the new combinations of horse and rider. We wanted to gain some mileage on the clock and to be able to review our training plan if needed. Well done guys a enjoyable and promising start to the year.
We also had the company of Jo and Emma, who both did well, with Emma being on a very green baby and new to competition and Jo still be fairly new in her partnership with Charlie, Well done to you both.
On Saturday 20th October 2012. We delivered Bugsy to her new home. Although we still own her, Bugsy is now based with a talented young rider to pursue her competition career. They are aiming to compete in working hunter pony classes, dressage, eventing, show jumping and pony club. We wish them well and will aim to keep you updated on how their progress.
Entered three for the NPS sale in Builth, Diversity (Nessy), Lau Lau & Mr Tumble. If not sold Mr Tumble may be available for loan to a stud, or he will eventually stand at stud along side his dad with us at Blaenllain stud. They have sensible reserves on, was also hoping to take, Mister Maker (Kevin) but unfortunately he injured his leg at the foal show, so is unable to go. He is also for sale. I Was planning on backing Nessy and competing her myself but can see it will be quite a while before I'm fit enough to be doing that so I've decided to sell her unbacked and let someone else take her on and enjoy her potential.

Back to see the surgeon, and at long last have been given the all clear to drive, also still having regular trips to physio & Bowen treatments from Andrew Phillips and have been told that unfortunately it could take up to 2 years for my ribs and collar bone to really settle down. Have ventured out round the block once on Bart and once on Bugsy, and as painful as it was I can see it will take quite a while to be competition fit again.
22 September 2012
Had a rather manic day as seems usual these days, took to mares and their babies to the vets to have the babies micro chipped, for the passports to be done for the NPS sale. Got back on our yard at 12.30, changed over a few horses and off to Ffos Y Ffin Foal Show by 1pm. This was Lau Lau's first show, she didn’t disappoint, she won best WPB foal and open foal. Barts son, Bryneos Charlie Boy, (full brother to Bella) won the WPB yearling, with George standing 2nd. George took his role as uncle George looking after the babies very seriously and again was very well behaved giving the babies a good example to follow. Unfortunately Kevin cut his leg, on what we will never know, the only thing it could have been was his own foot!!
He obviously didn’t fancy going to the NPS sales!

14/15 August 2012: Pembrokeshire County Show
Mr Tumble (George) went, we were well aware that he wasn’t as furnished as some of the others were as he had been turned away for a few weeks due to my accident, he was litrally shown from the field, as he was entered he went for the experience. He behaved impeccably, and took it all in his stride, even standing happily in the lorry on his own while his friends were shown.
Bella was shown in the ridden WPB, she was ridden by Gwenan Evans, this was a big ask for them both as Bella hadn’t been ridden for about 3 weeks due to my accident, and it was the biggest show they have competed at and the did very well to go very well and come a good 6th in a strong class.
On the Tuesday it was Barts turn, he was handled by Gwenan Evans, he was shown in the gales and piddling rain, he went very well for Gwenan, and went on to win his class. They got totally soaked and literally looked like they had been bog snorkelling!
